After World War I, in the heart of Harlem, New York, Billy Grupp opened Grupp’s Gymnasium. It would become known as the preeminent gym in New York City during this time period and offered everything the young, driven boxer could ever want.
With both Sugar Ray Robinson and Jack Dempsey training at Grupp’s, it became a hallmark of great training and even greater fighting with the Grupp’s logo immediately conjuring forth the attitude so many legendary fighters embodied when training at this iconic gym.
